CLEAN WATER WELLS
It all started with wells. Access to clean water can mean the difference between life and death. Local people would hand dig wells or use machines to construct very poorly designed, shallow, and unsustainable versions. These substandard devices would often break down in a matter of months.
Our wells are expensive by local standards for the up front cost. We go beyond a simple pipe in the ground to build a platform, drainage, fencing, information plaques, and more. We educate people on how to use, maintain, and care for the well. We follow up regularly. As a result our higher up front cost is offset by the long-term performance.

The first well was built in the village of Khnar Tmei in 2002 and is still going strong today. Used for more than just drinking water, the community gathers here to clean laundry, prepare to cook meals, and watch the children play.
